Hi Kim. This could be a lot of things. We will need to ask a lot of questions to help you.

What kind of bird?

Is it near another bird? If so what kind?

Is this sudden?

We will have to trouble shoot for you but you might want to be prepared to visit a vet soI suggest you research who is in you area just in case.

Thank you for answering so quick..
I have a Blue and Gold Macaw.
His name is Archie.
Yes I do have a parakeet Tommy he's been with us for 2 years. I've only had Archie for about 3 month's. I've been tryin to check his background according to his ankel ring. But no such luck.

And yes this was sudden. He seems fine. He's eating, playing and everything like normal.

Yep, thats exactly where I was going with this! Kim, we have a member Hyacinthlove. Her name is Emily. Her Hyacinth Macaw had the same symptoms. It came and went mysteriously. It could be an allergy. But some would say dont play around and get him to the vet. You have to watch carefully if you plan to wait it out. Make sure he doesnt sit on the bottom of his cage, or sit all fluffed up. If he's eating, playing, and pooping ok, it can be confusing. Id separate the birds first. Smell his poop to see if it has an odor. Have you changed anything over the past few days? Do you keep your windows open? It could be an irritant also. Did you spray anything or burn a candle?

I haven't done anything different. No spray No candles.
The only thing different he's doin different is sitting on his food dish. Not fluffing or sitting on the bottom. He's making noises at me and standing on his food dish. and his treat bowl. He will pick up a claw full of empty sunflower seeds and throw them at me.

Kim, Welcome to Parrotchatter!

There are many good reply prior to this post!

A clear discharge is not life threatening unless accompanied by labored breathing, shortness of breath or other signs of illness.

My first thoughts would be an allergy or another irritation. Try taking your bird into your bath room and make it into a steam room by running hot water in your tub or from your shower. Keep the bird in the steam for 20 minutes and then watch to see if there is improvement after it drys and rests for awhile. Many times a bird can have something in the nasal cavity and the steam will help flush it out. As a precaution I would keep the bird warm (85degrees) and hydrated.

I'm not sure what kind of weather you are having where you live but there may be many pollen or dust in the air. Sometimes even the dust from central air can cause a sneeze or discharge.

I don't see you having to rush the bird to the vet until you have more information to offer him. If the problem continues call the vet first and tell him the symptoms before you take the bird in.

Please keep us posted!
