Gary,
Thank you! They did ask me anything different. And I never thought about central air. Yes we are having some warmer weather and my unit is on cause of my son's heart condition. The wetness is clear. It is hard to get a good picture. Never thought of the central air.

I'm very impressed with this website. The quick responce and help is outstanding. Yes I have turned on my central air unit due to the warmer weather cause of my son's heart condition. They did ask if there was any changes. I never thought of the air. His nose area is moist but clear unable to get a clear picture.

HI,

Thank you for worrying about your bird!

Our central air blows a little dust sometimes when it goes from heating to cooling. Our birds will sneeze of get a little discharge this time of the year, it could be from dust , pollen or a combination of both. You might want to check your furnace filter also.

Try and relax, we will be here for you.

gary

I greatly appreciate all of your help. The quick responce time is of the up most impressive. I have 2 birds. 1 being the Blue and Gold macaw. Which I'm semi new to. And we have Tommy the parakeet. They are part of our family. We would rush them to the doctor's as quickly as we would one of our kids. We love and worry about them. And to find a website that I believe feels the same way, Is outstanding. I will be telling my cousin about this site. She has a wonderful story about a parakeet that came into her life. She also is a bird lover.
Many Thanks to all of you that responded !!!

It was my pleasure. Please keep us posted. We all worry about each other here. And even if we dont have all the answers individually, we come together to respond and ask questions. Sometimes the questions alone help you to figure it out on your own. Good luck with this!

Kim, Welcome to Parrot Chatter!

Air conditioning can dry out the air, you may want to run a Humidifier nearby to keep the humidity levels up for him.

I have experience with discharge of the threatening kind. Pneumonia.
It is very, very thick and gluggy, comes out like a string. Is constant, gets food stuck on it and is awful.
Food swallowed comes back out with the mucus and looks green/yellow in color.
It comes back out through the beak as well as the nostrils. It gets to the point of having to wipe it away with a tissue. I did this with my bird in the end, before she died.

Take any discharge seriously. Get you bird looked at by a vet.
Hope all is well. Warm wishes your way.

Cheers
Sue.

Good Morning to you all. Archie is doing well this morning. When I went to bed last nite his nasal area was all dry. And again this morning is still dry. He is himself, he was hanging upside down this morning as in every morning to greet me when I got up. Thank you all for your concern.
