Default I need advice, QUICK!

My son-in-law has borrowed my SUV for the past several months and I asked him to take my car yesterday and let me have the SUV because I have a vet appointment for both the birds today and I need the space of the SUV to transport.

I just went outside and noticed he hung an air freshener in the truck! I have all the doors open right now. I can smell the air freshener scent, is this going to be safe?

Edited to add: We have to leave in a little over an hour.

I would think it safe since you have the doors open letting it air out. I would still leave the rear windows cracked open some to let fresh air in while driving. I never transport without some fresh air coming in regardless of the situation at hand.

I would imagine it will be just fine in an hours time.

You might want to first jump in it alone, Karen, and drive it around fast with all the windows down to force fresh air in and the bad air out.

Great idea! That's what I would do for sure! With all the wind coming in surely all of the bad air will leave pretty quickly I would assume.

Karen, I don't think jumping inside your car will actually help with anything, plus there just isn't enough room in there for that. I would just take the latter half of Sizby's advice and go with that.

Joel, you crack me up -- and that's saying something as I have not yet had my morning coffee!

Be sure to leave the air conditioner controls set for the air to come in from the outside rather than recycling inside the vehicle.

Also, if you leave the rear window cracked, be sure the exhaust isn't being sucked in through the opening.

I agree with Joel, there's just not enough room to jump around. In any event, I doubt the effectiveness of such a technique .

Actually Joanie, Stiz (without knowing it - I think) had an effective antidote to any problems that may have been a potential life threatening epsiode for the birdie. I tried to teach this to my undercover agents (you know, the 007 types), when I was lecturing as a molecular scientist in my early days at the C.I.A. Headquarters & Interpol Headquarters:

Jumping at a high rate of speed inside closed quarters will in fact cause enough air friction to excite the oxygen molecules in the air to a temperature warm enough to destroy any odiferous life threatening molecules of not only an air-freshner but any molecules of any dangerous carcinogen. So Stiz was on the right track and her advice may have worked if Karen was perhaps driving a small camper type RV & was physically capable of jumping really fast (which I am sure she is).

Hope this info. helps someone in the future.
