Emergencies!Minor emergency help. Should I be worried.... Ask here.
Please note; We are not Veterinarians! Your first course of action should always be to call your Veterinarian.
We all are trying to help you with emergency first aid for your bird but we can not replace the advice from an avian vet.
The best thing right now would be aloe-detox if there is suspect of organ failure. Detox will help clean the kidneys. Pedialyte will help keep the bird hydrated but it should be mixed 50/50 with water. Keep the bird warm with an ambient temperature of 85-87 degrees.
If you are see fresh blood it could be an ulcer or maybe the bird swallowed a sharp object. It is hard to tell without seeing the bird. Is the bird in pain? Do you have any aloe-detox?
Thank you all for your advice and concerns. I just talked to a vet 6 hours away, He said by my description Louie has not lost a significant amount of blood. (under 3 cc's) I am going to pray that he makes it through the night and take him to the Great Falls vet in the morning. Thank you all again. I'll keep you posted tomorrow.
My bird is listless and growls when I go near him, but will let me cuddle with him, but he gets blood all over. I gave him a corn cob to chew on yesterday. i can't think of anything weird that he would have eaten..
Oh Paula, I know how stressed you are right now, and we are all here for you, and you are both in all of our prayers. Please let us know how everything goes. Keep your chin up.
