Default Wheatgrass.... will your birds eat it?

I picked up some wheatgrass at Sprouts (like the wholefoods store) yesterday. I gave some to the birds yesterday and today and the macaws just looked at me like I'm nuts. I'll keep trying.

Do you feed the Whole grass (with root?) or do you cut some off and feed it? Do your birds eat it? What kind of bird?

Here are some articles on wheatgrass and parrots.

The budgies and probably the IRN would eat that, the suns would look at me as if I am attempting to poison them or something. They choose not to eat stuff on account they have never had it before. It may take a long time to persuade them it is safe to eat.

Mine will eat it but I usually mix it with other stuff, it sticks well to fruit, like seasoning. I chop it finely, but it could but good in some mashed potato..

I've never tried it. I have a feeling my two would think I'm nuts also. They're afraid if I hang a stalk of kale in their cage!

Sounds interesting though. I wonder if you could do a planting of it in an outdoor aviary?

I've never tried either. Harley would probably eat it, he'll eat almost anything...Maple is picky tho.

Never tried it. Ruby would probably at least give it a go. She's a good sampler. That's funny Karen, about the kale. LOL That is spooky stuff!!

I bet Quito would like to play with it and chew it up, but I don't know if she'd eat it. For the others, it would probably have to be chopped up fine and camouflaged in with their rice/bean/veggie stuff.

I nabbed the Beak Apptite organic wheat grass sprout kit at Petco yesterday because Jazzy seems to love the taste of my Lucky "Bamboo" plants!

I'm going to grow it and treat it like it's one of my prized house plants so she'll want to eat/destroy it, hopefully, instead of the actual house plants!

There's an idea!! You know they'll want it if they can't have it!
