I think they would like more fruits and veggies. Ruby does! She has been on a cherry kick lately!

I feed maybe 80% fruits/veggies, 10-15% grains, 5-10% nuts and little to no seed. I have macaws. NO PELLETS! I think they serve better as cage litter than they do as food.... and the birds have always agreed with me on that.

Nobody can make a pyramid for 'parrots' as if parrots were a single species. Every species have different needs although some groups have feeding ecologies that share many points in common.

I also do think that 60% grains is too high but cooked grains do provide a lot of fiber and are an excellent source of protein. And the fresh produce is way too low at 15%. Even seed eaters eat more than that in greens and fruits. The seeds are OK at 15%, only I would not add another 15% in pellets.

Ruby certainly agrees with you on the pellet part! She likes to throw hers out so we can smash then when we walk by. The dogs won't even eat them! This is the last bag I will buy.
