Karen, that is a different style, but definitely like the HQ cage that I used to have for Quito. They are different enough from the A&E cages (hinges, latches, fasteners, etc.) to make me think that there is definitely more than one factory turning out cages. By the way, I had the same rust/sloppy paint issues with Quito's.

Nate do you have any idea what make of cage the one pictured might be? I know it's not HQ. I have 2 HQ that are very good quality when compared to this one.

Very scary stuff Leigh. All my cages are Hunter Green. I'm going to send off scrapings for testing.

Wow, Karen! The vendor of that cage should be ashamed of itself and fully refund you your money for the poor paint job alone. The cages I got from e-bay are HQ and I agree that they are good cages (although I have had to modify one of them to escape-proof it from the well-honed skills of Izzy the Houdini). LOL I do wish they would come up with a different design for locking their food doors -- Izzy can swing those discs at ease and push her way through in no time flat.

Actually, I mis-spoke when I said the one I had was an HQ. Although they are not identified on the site where I bought it, it is identical in appearance and model number to one by Prevue. From the hardware and fasteners, the one you have looks to be from the same company, and they are recognizably different from the A&E cages.

Though I don't post here much anymore, I felt it was fair to at least let you know about my test results (I have a silver A&E cage):

lead <45ppm
zinc <170ppm

If you're interested in the details of the analysis, please pm me and I'll send the data your way (there might be a little delay as I don't check them often).

I hope with this, some people can feel a little more relaxed - I sure do.

Which type of testing did you have done? Was it the leaching method?

Thank you!

Inductively coupled plasma atomic absorption spectroscopy (ICP-AAS) after concentrated nitric acid digestion, in combination with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy on the solid sample
