I panicked when I first felt his lower belly and never even felt the rest of him until the next day and you can feel that he is fat all over. I do know how to check their keel bone, just didn't and I don't even have a good excuse for not

I don't know how I'm going to get his weight off of him.He is going all day playing and living up to his name.He has a 4 lb toy box he can drag from the bottom of his cage to the top with one foot. After lights out at night you can hear him playing with all his toys,so it's not like I can increase his activity much.

Whew, Michelle, I'm relieved as well. Still concerned though, because of the possibilities for health issues that can come with being overweight...but still. Its soooo much better than some of the possible diagnoses that could have come out of those symptoms! If he's already really active, you might have to try to control his weight more through diet? Sort of the same as with people, the only options are exercise and calorie input, you know? (This from a guy who could easily stand to lose 25 or 30 pounds)

Nate is correct. You will need to watch his diet, reduce carbs and increase fiber. As to exercise, there is only one exercise that birds can benefit from and that is flying. Walking, climbing, playing doesn't do it, only flying.

I am sure your vet told you this already but, just in case, please note that obesity kills birds. It's one of the biggest problems of captive birds.
