Default Set up for Nebulizer Treatment

Does anyone have any tips of how to set-up for Nebulization treatment? I am thinking a travel cage, maybe one of those clear plastic bins. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

hmmmm... Don't know whats cheaper, a plastic bird carrier big enough for a GW where you could block off the majority of the air holes, or a fish tank draped with a towel or plexiglass top with a hole cut out for for the end of the nebulizer tube? Depending on how long you would be using it you might want to just construct your own out of plexiglass, so you can have a perch and door on hinges.

Very nice idea Cas! (hi).

Karen are you using saline for now or a bronchodilator? If you're using a med especially like an albuterol type thing I'd go with an open area. As to not coat his feathers especially an albuterol has some pretty strong side effects.

If you're using saline I'd go with the plexi cage it's a great idea (as if he'll go in!)

Since he's hormonal you should be able to get him to go in any box if the lid's off.

Kitchen cabinet is good too but he'll prolly freak at the machine

Usually with a bird you bag them sorta.

Otherwise I'd cover his cage with a bunch of shower curtains or whatever he'll tolerate. OR just go in the bathroom. And put it near his face.

I'm 50-50 on nebulizer masks for animals (of course you wouldnt for a bird) because they have to time the inhaling really but on our Mega E list alot of people use them when they have too much mucous.

Or even a brooder, or hospital cage, they are more on the expensive side but the benefits of having one are tremendous. The likelyhood of the average bird owner having to use one are slim to none, but having one is nice anyway in a godforbid something happens kind of way. But then again most avian vets have them in their office and if ones bird gets to the point twhere they need to be in one they are usually staying overnight at the vets office anyway. What kind of Neb meds is your greenwing getting Karen ? Do you have a nebulizer ? I have several that I'm not using if you need one, with my CF and some of my more high powered meds I needed a Nebulizer unit that could process the air at a faster rate. So if you do let me know I could ship it to you.

Given his 'extra' hormones right now the kitchen cabinet would be perfect. He peeks into the cabinet and says, "What's up there?"

Thanks for all the ideas. I have to get something together by tomorrow. A hospital would be optimal. I wish I could rent one. Off the top of my head and the urgency of this I am thinking an aquarium. A plexi-glas carrier would be perfect. But I know it's too late to make or order one.

The Nebulizer I have to get is: AirSep Mystique Ultrasonic Nebulizer. I think I have found a source locally and will call first thing in the morning. I also won't know what meds we're using until tomorrow.
