Ruby can't get it opened!

We ordered some macadamia nuts in the shell and bless her heart she can't get it opened. I had to go outside on the concrete with a hammer to get it started. (after dinging my kitchen counter! ha! oops!) Is this normal or do I just have a weakling?? ha! She worked and worked on one and then just threw it to the dogs with a look that said "I don't like nuts anyway!!!"

Oh my....poor Ruby! I have never tried Mac nuts with my two yet, so I have no idea. Maybe I should lol.

LOL...only my Hyacinths can open the mac nuts. They sell crackers specifically made to open them. I'll look through my paperwork to see where I got mine.

Thanks ya'll! I had no idea! hahaha! Poor Ruby! I had bought them before that were shelled and she didn't want to have a thing to do with them, so I figured..... hahahahaha!

LOL... My Harlequin Moki tries to open them too. I have to crack them so that she thinks she opened it on her own.

I know I got my cracker from gold crown in Cali but I can't find the website, I'm waiting to hear back from a friend of mine that gets them there as well.

Poor Ruby! She looks like she should be able to crack anything with that gorgeous beak. At least it kept her occupied for a while.

Jessalyn, it's very normal. Usually only Hyacinth's and some Green Wings can crack them. You can order them un-shelled. I get them at; LINK: Raw Macadamia Nuts - Nuts - By the Pound - NutsOnline

Also be sure to not let the dog get to the Mac nuts, they are toxic to them.

You might be able to use a Lobster cracker if you can't find a nut cracker.

I guess you & Ruby will be spending quality time together working on those nuts.
