Best though if ya can build her an outdoor Avairy so she can bask daily in the natural direct sunlight and enjoy a natural rain-shower periodically.
I have a Congo Grey who always plucked indoors at his prior keeper's house and even here when I first got him. Once I let his feathers all grow in and moved him into a spacious outdoor aviary with a /playmate-cagemate of his own species, he stopped plucking. |

#7 | | | Re: Pluck No More I'd say no. I follow Laurella Desborough a noted Ekkie person. EVen though I dont live with one.
Google her she'll come up.
Vet exam first and foremost.
Diet -dark leafy greens, veggies, fruits , grains and vegetable protein like beans. And high quality seed and not too many nuts and definitely no peanuts they're not a nut anyway. Ratio 1/3 beans to 2/3 grains. Forms a complete protein chain.
She's anti pellet too.
No man made vitamins for now. This is like using an elimination diet your dad the doc will understand it.
Baths, frequently cool/cold clean water no additives and preferably no spraying to aspirate them. Distilled or Spring in a plucker. No toweling dry they dry alone.
Enrichment, flying and exercise. (sorry but she really does say that you want to fly them if possible)
If you're clipping she's pretty particular about how. <only saying that to be fair but please dont lol>
Avoiding nesting behaviors and triggers and a long night sleep in a dark room no human interruptions, lights, noise, sounds, DOGS (lol, sorry I couldnt resist!) I follow a strict natural daylight schedule only dawn to dusk is their time up. All year long.
If you pm me I will let you know where to find her.
Meanwhile I'd let her settle in a bit before doing anything other than the above.
OH cage placement, too, I forgot. against a wall in a corner is best.
AND a feeding group i'm on claims sweet potatoes are implicated in pluckers mostly anecdotally not a study. But it wouldnt hurt to be proactive and stop them. Use squash, calabaza, or pumpkin or carrots rotated.

Whoops I missed Joel's post. I completely agree 100 %. That's the easiest and best thing you can do, not to mention the birds love it. |
