Thanks for the website! I know this plucking this is not going to just go away, but there are tons of improvements since moving her to a larger cage, getting her lots of toys and taking her off pellets.
Yes, she has had recent blood work. Everything came back perfect, nothing wrong. I am saving up for FS Lighting (the kind on the pole that bends) for her and the other fids. We are supposed to be building an aviary, but that will have to wait for a little while, unfortunatly. Can I roll her cage out and partially over it for shade? |
Dom - Generally when a new bird comes in, who has a feather problem, I just do as you have and do the cage and toys and bath etc as well as the vet check. Then I sit back and wait and see what happens. Often, the mere change in environment is enough to set up changes in the bird. The diet as others have said of course. But just give Lucy a bit of time before you go using "stuff" to stop the plucking. I know you want her fixed right away, but just wait and see what happens. If no improvement after a while (your definition of a while goes here) then begin considering other things. In other words, wait and see if it is really broken before you try to fix it.
BTW, she is a real cutie! I just love her face and the way she holds herself.
