Default Pine Nuts

Do your birds prefer Pine Nuts in the shell or already shelled?

yes, yes they do prefer them shelled and unshelled. So far I haven't been able to tell a difference.

My pionus, Max, LOVED pinenuts and would do anything for one. Ruby just turns her beak up.

Pine and Cedar nuts are very hard to come by now. Something about the fires in California last year. My blend food has cedar nuts again finally but the birds wont eat them. They loved them before and pine nuts too, in or out of the shell.

I give them pine cones in winter, the heat of the birdroom opens up the little 'scales' exposing the pine nuts. Some eat them, some don't.
