SOY - I've provided articles in other discussions on this matter. Soy is bad, IMO for humans and for birdies. Bottom line, fermented soys (miso soup, soy sauce) from Asian cultures don't contain the plant estrogens that the american culture now promotes (endamame, tofu, soy oil, protine powders). Those estrogens (isoflavins) mess with thyroid and can cause a whole slew of other issues.
amen on the peeling. who knows where it's been and what can't be washed off. soy has always seemed "fake" to me, so i've steered clear of it for the most part. i DO feed harrison's though. i've been wanting to try TOP but i've heard so many stories of people not being able to get their birds to eat it, that i haven't tried. ivy hardly ever even eats her harrison's as it is!

Emily I have tried the Totally Organic Pellet (TOP) here. Both my birds gobbled those pellets up right from my hand at first. Now they don't touch them. I also offer Harrison's Hi-Po, but they don't eat a lot of them.

I wash and scrub all of my fruits and veggies, and I leave the peel on, but now that I've read what some of you had to say, I may start peeling just to be safe. I use Lefaber's Premium Diet Pellets, and of course the Nutri berry's. Pickles and Peek-a-Boo eat all of it, but for the most part Blondie and Dagwood just eat the Nutri berry's, some times they'll eat the pellets, but they are sooooo picky that all's they truly want is the fresh fruits/veggies or cooked meals. Spoiled rotten aren't they.
