Here's another very interesting one (although a bit older): Avian Histopathology Case Submissions 1980-1996: Psittacine Viral Diseases. Includes charts of PBFD by species and age.

Again, I did not want to turn this into a huge debate. If it comes down to it, I will just ask the mods to delete this thread and I will go along my merry way. I posted this to be MY experiance. and did not want to start some HUGE debate.

The words "not really" are not very reassuring/definitive words to someone considering bringing home an Amazon that has been around PBFD birds.

I (& maybe others) would be more assured/comfortable hearing the words "definitely not at risk" and proven so. Just trying to understand Dayna, I see no reason for over-sensitivity here.

Not trying to debate you either (although debate is always good IMO) as I don't know, that is why I am asking. I was just hoping for some A.V. to have a more clear-cut answer.

Interesting, Camille. This seems to support Dr. Ford's data, as no New World species (South American) are listed except Amazons.

This is not hyjacking, just posting information that relates to my thread!

Thank you so much for posting this.

Hey Dayna.

I know I keep bombarding you with questions about the Ozone machine Sorry. But if you don't mind me asking, did you purchase your Ozone machine from that website??? I am really thinking about buying one, and am always looking to save a buck. Thanks

Lance, and others.

I just wanted to clarify that:

OZONE IS A VERY DANGEROUS GAS AND SHOULD NEVER BE USED WHILE ANY LIVING BEINGS, INCLUDING PETS AND HUMANS, ARE IN THE ROOM.

When we used ozone, we cleared all animals out of the room and put a rolled towel against the closed door to keep gas from leaking into our home. While ozone is present in small amounts in the air we breathe, larger amounts can be dangerous and even kill you. Ozone is a very dangerous gas.

Joel, I think that no one could ever guarantee that your amazon would never get the disease. I don't think anyone for fear of being sued in this environment would ever claim a bird is "definitely not at risk". I am not being overly sensitive and I would appreciate you not claiming that.

Joel, I would also think that if one was planning on bringing home a bird that had been exposed to a deadly disease, that instead of reading a bird forum, that they should speak with their own avian vet about it and weigh the risks associated with bringing that bird home. IMO
