Default Ollie's Test Results

I got all of Ollie's results in the mail today.

Chlamydia: negative
PBFD: negative
Polyoma: negative
Fecal Examination: negative
Fecal Gram Stain: mostly gram + bacteria (normal)
Fecal Culture: no sig. growth, no gram negatives

CBC: They had already called me and told me it was normal, but the paperwork is very confusing. They gave me no reference ranges for the results, and under Erythrocyte features, it says MILD POLYCHROMASIA. Anybody know what that is?

Chem panel: So, I have all the results, but no reference ranges! I'm wondering how I'm supposed to know if they're too high or too low. Hopefully I can find a list of normal ranges on the internet somewhere. I've already called into the hospital, but my doctor isn't in today. I'm assuming that if something was off, they would have marked it, or called me to tell me.

Camille, take a look here, Dani posted this a while back. It may help decipher the numbers.

I'm glad that everything came out ok! But yes, it would be nice to know what some average ranges are..

Based on the numbers given here, everything is within normal ranges:

I'm assuming that there is a misprint in that link and that Calcium in greys should be 8-14 not 8-4. In the link I found, it states the range as 8-12. Ollie's calcium is 8.7, so although she's on the low end, she's not deficient. Calcium is what I was most worried about- I'm glad she's getting enough in her diet!

I've never quoted myself before...

Apparently, this is perfectly normal. If there were no polychromasia, or if it were more than mild, then it would be signs of anemia.

Here is another great website about CBC's: Complete Blood Count

It has to do with regenerative anemia... but before you go poking around and getting paranoid (I only say that because I know I would at the words regenerative anemia) , read this and talk to your vet - Normal avian RBC
