Default Lychee Nuts/Fruits

Tonight I had Chinese food from an upscale resturuant in the area and it was some of the best food I ever had. Bella joined me tonight at the table and enjoyed her shrimp, snow pea, and well there were these grape sized nuts/fruits called Lychee. She absolutely loved this thing. I liked it alot too. Is there any benifits to these things? I looked it up and kept seeing recipees for um martinis and stuff.

I have no clue about the Lychee. But I do know our boys go crazy for Chinese food, they especially love egg rolls.

It was interesting. I ate one as well before she did. It was very tastey. It was like the color of an egg but the size of a grape. It had the same texture too as a grape but the taste was amazingly sweet. Bella's eyes were pinning the entire time she ate it. She also ate my lone little lobster tail!

I've never even heard of it! Sounds like Bella may want it part of her daily diet!

They're expensive and seasonal. I looked up information about them. High in fiber and antioxidants. They make great martinis too.

The problem with chinese stuff is that it's all imported from China and we all know how lax they are with food safety and chemical preservatives. I get organic baby corn, sugar snaps and water chestnuts in the local health food store but they don't have them all the time so they are more a treat than a staple for my birds. Also, I've never seen any lychees that are not packed in heavy syrup (I don't think you could eat them otherwise) so that's another reason why my birds don't get them -they don't get anything that is processed like white sugar or white flour, etc. I am very strict when it comes to their diet.

I have a chinese friend who gets them fresh & her mom then freezes the excess. Don't know where they get them though.

Eve gets these once in a blue moon, I get them whole in the "shell" and fresh. But they are expensive. I pop them out of the shell, (don't trust what could be on the outside of it) HOWEVER, THE NUT IT SELF IS POSIONIOUS. So you can only just use the fruit.

I prolly wouldn't use the canned stuff either (for the birds, I eat them though), although most likely safe if ya wash it real well?

I recently planted a Lychee tree out on the back 40 - can't wait to have my very own fresh fruits (I luv 'em!!!). Now if I could only grow Pomegranite here. ...

Most of the ones we get here are grown in the US. The dinner I got was expensive for chinese food. It was from a popular resturuant in the area I opted to try. The food was good. Not heavily dipped in gunk if any. Everything tasted of lychee fruit and pineapple.
