The article is just a preface to a sales pitch and it should be taken into that context. She mentions seeing parrots eat and asking owners what their parrots eat but she doesn't say how many parrots she has, for how long, if they came to her as babies or as seed junkies, etc. And there are a number of incorrect facts there, also...

Interesting reading, but not too far off from humans. A friend of mine works in an elementary school (ages 7-12, more or less) as a cafeteria cashier. The children have a choice of chicken nuggets, baked french fries, pizza, salads, wraps, yogurt, cottage cheese, fresh fruit, etc...and what do they usually choose? Chicken nuggets, fries, and pizza. Fat, carbs, and sugar. No wonder Americans have an obesity problem!

I read it - it kind of vacillated all over the place saying 1st pellets were great & then talked about variety. Over all I didn't think it was too off what I do. I would hesitate to say it is a great diet for all birds.

Mine can have pellets - like Scott said in another thread ~ our Budgies find the harder pellets less desirable so I have to crush the Harrison's a bit. Mine are offered a varied diet - I do my best but it isn't perfect. They get seed - but I never just fill a dish I give them enough for a day at a time. I offer soaked grains. I offer fresh greens. I offer cooked veggies and rice and some noodles.

I really question a 100% prepared diet. Overly prepared foods are not great foods. I am also concerned about the freshness of the pellets. I think they go 'stale' easily.
