Just stay calm sweetie. We are here to help. Its good that you are watching though. Our eyes knowing every inch of them is all we really have. I would still like to see pics though. Is her beak quality good? Is it mis shapen or overgrown in any way?

When my guys get dyed from toys the drinking water is usually colored as well. Did you check that?

I was about to say the same thing. Its not unusual for a macaw to blush when its mood changes.

At 2, I believe its possible for her to be going through a sort of pre-hormonal -ormal time, but my guess is maybe she is a little older than you were told. Coupled with the molt...

My Ruby blushes also when she is excited or scared. For example, when we walk into the vet's office. What is your bird's name? You are going to be just fine. There is alot to figure out about Macaws. Is this your first bird? Jessalyn ps Ruby says "step-up!"

taarna2, Thank you for being so observant, this is a good, very good.
Thank you for opening your heart and home to your new friend, you shine.
As other members have said, these birds blush, our Mac blushes and his whole face turns a pinkish color.
Lets review what others have said.
The feather quills were mentioned, you checked these and all seems fine, good job.
Blushing was mentioned, this could very well be the issue.
You mentioned the birds diet, I am assuming you were not told what the bird was being fed in the past and now are feeding your friend a Macaw seed mix.
Offer fresh fruits, Clean water daily, There is much information posted here on Parrot Chatter concerning the macaws diet, Please, if you have the time, cruise the forum and catch up on some reading, more than likely you will find answers to most of your questions, there's a generous amount of information in the Stickies located at the top of the Macaw forum, this information can be a very valuable tool for your future need.
If possible, set up an appointment with a avian vet, your friend will need a complete exam, this protects the bird and you (big time).
Read my friend, and then do some more reading, I can't express this enough.
I have not enough words to thank you for giving this bird a loving home, I admire you a great deal, I admire the concern you have for your new family member.
A sincere Thank You to our members for responding.
Arty

taarna2 in the section to read it says technical i believe and there is a great explanation on uploading or downloading pictures. i think we all found that info a great help.

i am sure things will be okay. thank you for taking the Macaw in it may just be a matter of the bird settling in.

as a lot of members said to ease your mind also have a vet check.

keep us informed. please.......

You'll be seeing a lot of that pink face it's just part of how they express themselves.

I'm newly owned by a B&G myself. Never be afraid to ask questions here everybody is so friendly and helpful. No judgement here just lots of people who want to help you both live as happily together as possible.
