Handfeeding Advice I have a special needs Tiel that is 3 years old this year. He was a "poor doer" when I got him as a weaned baby and also has scoliosis. Anyway, I have always had to supplement him with hand feeding. He does not get it every day, but it probably wouldn't hurt since he does not eat enough to keep his weight on him - he has always been light.
I was reading the thread about the Severe Cosmo on BB and it was mentioned in there about going to Harrisons Juvenile handfeeding as being on HF can cause liver or some type of problems.
Does anyone know how true this is?
I would love any advise you can give on thise matter.
When Shadow does get fed, he only receives 5- 6 ccc max.
Oops sorry it was another Board where the vet said it was not good for them.(Still the same bird though) Still interested to know though - if there are any health concerns to worry about using the handfeeding so long and if there is one that is recommended for "long tem" use. he is presently on Kaytee HF and is only fed one time a day.
Thanks in advance.
