Default Habanero peppers ok?

Weekly I make up a 7 layer salad for the birds. My husband does the grocery shopping so I just tell him what to get and I've only specified "hot peppers". Well last week and yesterday I've noticed that my fingers are on fire! I have burnt my left hand with the habanero peppers but didn't know they were habanero until I told Freddie my fingers are burnt. I have since learned I'm supposed to wear gloves when cutting habaneros.

If this can do this to my skin, these can't be good for the birds can they? I've already got them in the 7 layer salad but can pick them out as I portion it out.

Just wanted to get your guys' opinions.

Thanks.

Birds do not have saliva, so they do not feel the "heat" from the peppers. They love them and the seeds are fine too! They are a great source of Vit A, too!

Mine love hot peppers! Just make sure they don't throw them on the floors for the dogs to get, that happened to us and we had one sick puppy!

LOL Kris! It was instant with Tessa, the second it was in her mouth she started throwing up. Poor thing! But they should learn their lesson and quit eating after the birds! I swear my dogs are going to live forever, the eat more carrots, apples, and kale than any human or bird I know, lol.

Ok, I left them in there.

Good point about the dog. I pull the trays out so Corbin can eat some of the left overs. Not anymore!
