Default Get rid of fruit flies!

There are several ways to get rid of fruit flies:
.You can place a small glass of fruit juice in the room and they will drown in it.
.You can place some very ripe fruit in a ziplock plastic bag. Keep the bag open with a toothpick and leave overnight. The fruit flies will go into the plastic bag. Come back in the early morning while it is still dark and close the bag. Once it is light the fruit flies will leave the bag. Dispose of the bag.
. A wine bottle with a little wine left in the bottom will also attract them. They won't be able to fly back out of the narrow bottle neck.
.To keep from getting fruit flies wash your fresh produce in GSE. Run a sink full of water with about 20 - 30 drops of GSE and leave it all soak while storing the rest of your grocery items.

Does anyone else have any tried and true methods that work?

I have one: Bring both of your hands together in a clapping motion, with the fruit fly in the middle. Wash your hands.

I might have to try some of those! They sound like good ideas.

It also will keep you amused for a long time trying to catch them. For variety, you can get some moths in your seed for the cats to chase as well. (or just name them and pretend like you wanted them all there)

The Zip lock baggie thing works VERY VERY well. When we get an outbreak, I place like three of them around the house, then close them all up when everyone is still asleep. Freaks the dog out, but at least it gets rid of the flies! ;-}

grape seed extract, can be used for many things. Lots of threads here about it too.

There are also commercial fruit flies traps (as well as pantry moths ones) that work very well.
