Default Fresh veggies for only a few small birds

Feeding a variety of fresh veggies when you only have a few small birds can sometimes be a challenge. What I have started doing is just using the fresh salad bar at my grocery store. I can get a real varitey i.e. red and green peppers, cauliflower, broccoli, spinach, bean pods, celery, strawberries, etc. without having to buy large quantities.
I know the price per lb is more but it ends up cheaper for me because I don't throw anything away. I don't have much freezer space and we eat out a lot,so this is a great way to make sure they get those fresh foods.
Today I spent $.73 and got a variety for the next couple of days.

We all live different life styles, and whatever keeps your bird healthy is important.

The problem with salad bars is that food left sitting out incubates germs.

Good point. You do need to make sure things are fresh and properly handled. My grocery keeps the salad fixins in a cooled tray with a very deep protective glass. Things are replenshed frequently and I, of course, wash everything I bring home.

And try stocking up at the salad bar in Whole Foods or any other organic supermarket. A good variety and all organic and natural. Can't beat that!
