Default That does it little missy!

I made these new muffins for Ruby. Worked and worked. They must have had 15 ingredients. Then on the very top I put a whole (shelled) pistachio nut and some grated apple. I even boiled sweet potatoes. Silly, spoiled, bird just ate the pistachio off the top. Wouldn't even try them. What kind of bird acts that way?????? A rotten one!!!!! I am going to pluck a tail feather so help me God!!!

I know, I know .... the pigeons like the bird loaf I made ~ so it didn't go to waste.

Maybe you need to try that new lighting Karen was talking about. It seemed to help their perception of what was real food.

Jim has had great success with his bird mash - maybe its a texture thing? - or Gini's stuff seems very popular.

Great post Jessalyn, did YOU eat the muffins to tempt Miss Ruby into eating them? It usually works for me with Jerry when he's not sure if something is edible (then the rest of the flock will follow his lead). Last week I was eating tomato slices and Jerry flew over and was very interested. It's a good thing no one else was home because I must've looked & sounded like a real idiot:

There I was, a tomato slice in one hand, a budgie perched on the other hand. As I'd eat tiny bites I'd RAVE about how YUMMY it was Then I'd slowly put a larger piece up to my mouth and Jerry would lean in with hesitant interest - and as I would slooooowwwwwlllly go for a bite he would slowly go for a bite on the opposite end. It took forever to eat those darned slices but Jerry actually nibbled quite a few bites and I was impressed (red foods are hard for them to get accustomed to since budgies & tiels don't eat red foods in the wild).

Eating in front of them and not sharing also makes them all the more determined to try.

Isn't that the truth! Just let them get an idea that they can't have it and they're doing somersaults to get to it!

Jessalyn, when I serve muffins I have to break them open in their dish for them. They wouldn't dig into them when they were whole, go figure!

I'll try that. They were small sized and she held it long enough to pick the pistachio! Ruby, Ruby, Ruby!
