Default Boiled/scrambled eggs

Ever since Lilly came home I have been giving her boiled eggs. She has about 3 whole eggs a week (inluding shell). Is that enough or to much? How often do you give your fids, any species not just eckies, egg.
Also I have heard about giving scrambled eggs, but haven't tried it. How long do you cook them so they are 'safe'? I cook Lilly's eggs for nearly 30 mins just to be sure.

There was a thread on here a while back about eggs and high cholesterol. Is that right?

I give my birds eggs scrambled, poached or boiled about 2 - 3 times a week.

I think 30 minutes is way too long for scrambled eggs. You are probably frying all the nutrients out. I cook mine over medium heat on the stove top and move them around often until they are light and fluffy then put them in their dishes. I would say mine aren't in the pan more than 10 minutes.

I do the same as Lara but only about once a week regarding eggs. Cindy is probably the most knowledgeable about how much protein to give our birds - I certainly am not. I just know I personally haven't had any problems yet from giving the amount I do.

Pita gets scrambled eggs with shell around 3 or 4 times a week. My vet said that they are good for them, especially with the shell. I cook them pretty much the same as I would eat them. Just make sure the egg is cooked through. I also mix different things in with them. Sometimes I cook them with corn & peas, and I always put some birdy bread in with them. Pita loves his eggs...LOL

Here he is enjoying his breakfast of scrambled eggs.

I have heard that eggs should only be given once a week. I throw them in the microwave (with the shell crushed) for about 1 1/2 - 2 minutes.

Op, sorry about that. I thought 30 minutes was pretty long.

I use olive oil to scramble their eggs.

I've heard this too. Actually, Ollie only gets egg about 2-3 times a month. I have to factor in the little bit of meat I give her too though.

May I ask where you heard about the egg Camille and Kathie? Is there already a thread on here about it?
