Are you a reputable breeder? Do you qualify to be a reputable breeder?
I would never go into breeding birds, I have sat the exam to breed dogs. It goes into genetics, responsible breeding and much, much more. It is required in Australia if you want to breed pure bred dogs. Puppy mills are being EXTINGUISHED..yAAAAY!! That is another story.
So I ask if you are breeding birds, do you sit and exam to breed?
Do you have to pass any test? Or do you just breed?
Any moral obligation taken in? Do you guarantee your baby birds? Do you give back the money if the bird dies? Do you offer continuing support for your birds sold?
Do you give your phone number? Address?
What kind of sheet do you give for new bird owners?
Do you give food for more than 2 weeks? Do you give continued guidance? Do you offer to take the bird back if it doesn't work out? Can you offer to do this?
Do you test your breed stock for inherited/known (cough, cough, uh huh PBFD, Aussies, Africans you should know better, Yanks/Poms you are learning ), diseases?
Do you worm your birds? Do you give a baby bird 'package' with your new birds?
Are you there 100% with every baby bird you sell?
Do you vaccinate against known diseases for your breed?
ARE YOU A RESPONSIBLE BREEDER?
I would 100% guarantee to take back an puppy I sold. If I ever bred a bird I would take back the baby from any owner that was having problems if it ever came to occur, then I don't breed birds or intend to. Responsibilty comes back to US. The BREEDER. For if the breeder took responsibility then there might not be so many birds out there looking for new homes!!!
