[quote=Koky;118784]This is what I am talkin about. Look at the pictures. See your bird turning upside down. Now Peggy and Pi does that. It is an unadulterated love. Birds are waaaay more intelligent than any other pet.

I agree about the love, but it's also a lot of trust coming from that bird.

I had never had a bird until I met my husband ...he had a mealy amazon, given to him by his brother who no longer had time for him and could not tolerate his screaming. Then, my husband smoked in his apartment and took Apollo outside and for truck rides, to the shore and into stores, all without a harness.

Soon after meeting Apollo, I turned my husband around...we got our first cockatiel and then birds seemed to fall in our lap...most were rescues and rehomes...THey needed us and we took on that responsibiity.

Leigh, you mention it is a mistake , but it will never go away, really. Birds will be sold and bred, and there is not much we can do about it....except not buy and only rehome and rescue..Once I learned of the plight of the ones in rescues, I commited myself to never purchasing one again. This is after I bought my M2 Nani. But even though I would not do it again, I do not regret getting her...She is so sweet, so loving and very intelligent. AFter her, my dear Amazon Max passed (he was a rehome) and I was devastated.

Wouldn't you know, 4 months later I got a call for a CAG and sennie that needed a good home. How could I say no? I just feel I am here for a reason...I rarely have gone looking, but always try to be here to help.
