Default What games do you play with your bird(s)?

My macaw, Cooper, is a 2-year old male B&G who has been with me since he was appox. 5 months old. A game that I have played with him for as long as I have had him and that he just adores playing is "peekaboo". This game is usually played on the floor (but sometimes on the bed) and starts with my getting him to lay over on his back. Then I use a blanket or a large towel and toss it over him. I will then wait a couple three seconds and then fling the blanket/towel back and simultaneously yell "peekaboo". Cooper usually squeals with delight. I mix up how long I leave him under the blanket/towel before uncovering him so that he is truly surprised each time. Sometimes he will cheat and throw the the blanket/towel back and peak out at me. He's so darn cute!!

Cooper also loves to chase a ball that I roll along the floor. €He'll go waddling/hopping after it and then bring it all the way back to Mommy who rolls it back out for him to chase again.

So, what games do you all play with your birds?

valo loves to play his "put the wiffle ball into the cup" game.... as soon as he sees a ball and a cup, he waddles to the ball to bring it back to the cup (which is great in case the ball is actually a treatball and the cup is my morning coffee )

he also loves to hop around underneath a blanket... on the weekends he can come to bed with me in the mornings, and then we both hide under the blankie and he just runs happily back and forth, stopping by for kisses every now and then, and chasing after folds in the blankie

another game that he absolutely loves is the t-shirt hiding game... he hops into a t-shirt and me and my BF are on opposite ends. one opens the end up and calls the little bugger who usually comes hopping full of excitement for a kissie. then it's back to being tucked under, when the other person opens up the shirt and calls the birdie - he then runs over to get his head scritches and kisses from the other person.... he really likes that one.

Miro, My Severe, LOVES peek-A-Boo.... It is played with a blanket, usually on the couch. I pull the blanket up, and he climbs to the top of it, peeks over, and screeches.... Then, I say go hide, and he climbs back down, and does it over and over....

Victory our B&G, loves to play basket ball, he will put colored balls in minature basketball hoop. We have a small green basket ball court about 2'X4', on one end is the hoop on the other end, we place three minature balls, red, green, blue on the court, then tell him to pick a certain color ball. He will pick the ball up, by color, then run the other end of the court and drop it in the basket. Victory will also pick up colored rings and put them on a peg, he knows the colors red, green, and blue.

When I make the beds, I save this time for Rico, my U2. I toss the sheet over his head as I spread it across the bed. He loves this. The air gets trapped underneath and I run to the other side of the bed and peek and tuck my head under. He comes running to me and head dives into my shoulder.

I'll take the fitted sheet and toss it in the air to gather air beneath. He sees it settle on the bed like a big bubble and hops into the center of it. He loves it.

When I'm putting on the top sheet, he chases me to all four corners. I'll lift one corner and toss the sheet up and down as he tries to climb it, like a slide.

I play "ball" with my Scarlet. I have a large whiffle ball. I give it to him and he throws it in the air and I have to catch it. (Believe it or not, I actually keep score!) He knows when I catch it because he does this loud "Wooooooooo!" thing and then laughs!

My Hys love to play tug-of-war together with mommy as the referee! I fly them to the bed and they rush to the drawer under the bed to grab their yellow cloth towel to start a tug of war. When Bubbles wins over Pebbles, she then runs to bring the cloth to me, and her and I tug and tug and tug! Finally, she wins... and in celebration she grabs the cloth and hops all over the bed in squeeling with joy! Guess what then? You guessed it, she hurries back for another round!!!
