This evening was an unusually wonderful night with the fids. Normally around 4 or so I let the birds out of the cages for the evening. Zoey goes to the play gym, Sophie on top of the cages, Benji starts on his cage and Cricket plays on his gym on his cage. Me? I start dinner. I'm in the kitchen so Sophie does her usual aak aak aak. Zoey eggs her on to get her in trouble by sounding off with her shrill yell. About the time I get the hamburger helper boiling it dawns on me the fids are real quiet. Slowly I turn, inch by inch, oh wait thats already been done!! No really, I turn and all four are staring at me!! OK this is Alfred Hitchcock spooky now. Out of the corner of my eye I see the time............ its 5 PM. That is sprout time!!! Thats what they were staring at me for, so back to the cages they go and all get their issue of sprouts.
As Kelly and I eat they get to come back out. By now Benji is on the floor exploring like always. Sophie on the cages wanting to get down to Benji and Zoey will be dismantling wood blocks on the gym. I'm almost done with my desert and Sophie hops to the floor, runs over to my feet and waits on them for me to lift her up. For some reason she is intrigued by my cup. I had just finished my Oreo's and milk. During her exploration she bits my finger which lands her on the floor. I go get her and put her on the gym and play with Zoey.
Cricket is cool on his play gym as always. Benji is loving all the action going on around him running around on the floor. Sophie wasn't having it. She jumps to her cage climbs to the floor and over to me to get back at my cup. Zoey is scared of Sophie. Benji is scared of Zoey. Benji will aggressively put off Sophie. sheesh. With Zoey and Sophie on me Benji feels left out even though he NEVER wants to be held. I needed a break.
Zoey went on the cages. Sophie on the gym. Benji still on the floor. Sophie got back to the floor went over to the cages, climbed up and ran Zoey off. Zoey is flighted but won't fly. Even when confronted with the big red head. She just flaps to the floor. So now she has to show her might. After Benji she goes. Then to Papa for some lovin'. Now Sophie gets back on the floor. Benji, bless his heart, has had enough of her trying to get him to be her boyfriend. Watchin' a 47g Lovebird chase off a 447g Eclectus while the Ekkie is being cutesy is quite something to watch.
The evenings around here usually aren't this action packed. Sophie was on a mission to explore everything as was Benji.
Then came meds time. Poor Zoey does not like having to take her medicine. I learned she will open her beak sooner if I use a towel to hold her but she hates it. Well I got it done and set her on my shoulder and guess what she did? My little no flight gremlin made it all the way across the living room in flight!!! Now I know how to get her to fly, show her the med bottle!! It wasn't graceful. She kinda freaked herself out too by doing it. And wouldn't ya know it? She wouldn't do it again!! Bless her heart too!!!

Sounds kind of like my house in the evenings. Trying to tame the new Parrotlet with a budgie flyin around, a cag running from cage to cage, a tag playing on the floor and going after my feet, a macaw squaking for attention. And then I go and get another new budgie to train as well.
Are we all crazy or what?

Sounds like fun. I have games in the morning when the energy levels are high. The other morning I had 3 suns with a budgie behind come looking for me to tell me there was a problem in the food dishes. I had forgotten to take food out the night before so while it was defrosting in the micro, I came to the computer instead of making bird food in the kitchen. Must have been a serious problem to get a committee as the budgie and sun flocks don't normally mix. It was so cute to see a lone budgie walking on the floor with the suns.

What a bunch of goofballs :-). It gets kinda crazy around here, too, 'cept the Goons don't "do" the floor. Too many canine noses and human feet down there. They always come running to me to be picked up and cuddled if one of them finds himself at ground level.

In my house we stand in the middle of the room and it feels like you're in a tornado because two budgies and a tiel will be flying circles around you! Last night Dave was coming into the living room as Lulu was doing laps (he shoulda known that was stupid!!) and she smacked right into his face
