Default We're home

We are so tired, but I wanted to let you know that Charlie, Syd my son & I are home from Florida . It was just aweful, Syd was in a brand new cage that we had given them with no food, water or toys, the doors were held such with electrical wire,,and they were feding him lettuce and get this nacho cheeze doretos. I'm not even sure where Charlie was living, but she is beat up, big gash on her leg and neck. I had sent them special made collars for her god only knows what they did with them. I will tell you more in the morning, I have to go to bed, but to give you an idea I had a complete meltdown in the dr. office. Talk in the morning.
Kathie, they are LOVING the cage,,,thanks again for your help.

Wendy - so happy you made it home safe with the fids! It appears you got there just in time. So glad they are loving their "new digs" and hopefully all the toys and good food you got for them! I'm sure they are happy to be HOME. I don't even want to fathom how Charlie got so beat up.

Hugs, Kathie

What exactly is wrong with people? I just dont get it.

I was in the waiting room of Univ of PA Ryan Vet Hosp, waiting my turn when a couple came in w/a "NEARLY DEAD" Cockatoo. Seems they'd been feeding him "CHICKEN SKIN" for years (only!) and NEVER cleaned the birds cage. When they went away on vacation their "well meaning" father in law was outraged and cleaned the cage with bleach (their excuse for what was wrong w/the bird was the father-in law).......in reality the bird hadn't gotten cared for in years and was literally at deaths door.

I sat in the waiting room while the veterinarian waited to find out which one of these people (presumably live in boyfriend & Girlfriend) were going to take financial responsibility for putting the bird to sleep. There was no doubt this is what should've been done but the two stood there and said "I'm not paying for it, you pay for it!"

When the woman came running up to tell me what a "beautiful bird I had" I immediately threw the cover over the carrier stating that my bird was mean and bit everyone. I wasn't going to let her NEAR my bird.

The sad part is, they think there is nothing wrong with the way they treated thebird. More people like this exist than I'd like to know about. They are the type that no sooner "bury" one bird then they are out looking for another one.

You did a good thing! I hope these birds make a full recovery!

Mary

I am so glad they are home (and I bet they are glad too)! Just give them lots of loving and some time and they will be better. I am so mad that Charlie is so beat up! And doritos?! Come on people, humans shouldn't even eat that! I am keeping Charlie and Syd in my prayers. Get some rest!
