Default Vacuums

I'm in the market for a new one, wondering what others like for the 24/7 seed n stuff?! Is there really one better than another? All of our floors are carpeted, someday we will change that, but won't be this weekend! ;-)

I have a Dyson "animal" and love it. It's expensive (about $600) but it's worth it.

Talking Re: Vacuums

Heh Heh Sears Craftsman Shop Vac in this house! got it sitting right next to the cages because I have to use it everyday with these seed slingers, and it only cost around 80 bux and I have had it for seven years now, used it for virtually everything from construction clean up to blowing out my garage, it just keeps on runnin.

PS: if you have small birds or animals be careful with the vacuum, small critters have been known to disappear while I have been using my shop vac.

I have a big vac, but while hubby was gone I was in control of the flipper and came across this ad for a G2 Swivel Sweeper. Light as a feather, and it picks up nut shells and large items. Easy to "empty" and runs on a rechargeable battery. It was a buy one get one free deal so I have 2 batteries. Oh yes, and THAT'S NOT ALL ~ came with a free table top sweeper thingy.

I agree with both of the above statements. It is the best vacuum around. I will swear by it. I have killed so many other vacuums I can't even count. I still have the Dyson, haven't or will not buy anything else. Now, I have 4 dogs, 2 cats and 2 birds. Haven't burnt out the Dyson yet. lol. And it's been a couple of years now.

We got one for about $40 in the local shops, and it works great! It came with this special cleaner-head on it that is basically a big coil of bristles, and it spins around and creates a cool cyclonic effect... Not sure what brand, but it picks up seed pretty well here. the only drawback is that the spinning head tends to pick up anything stringy... like hair... which coils around it and stops it spinning... and stray carpet or rug fibers that are still technically attached to the floor... and it gets stuck to the floor... Otherwise it's great .

Jess, we see those ads all the time here! I wanted one, but Josh thinks they're a waste of money. Are they really that good? I'm a little surprised they didn't throw in a set of stainless steel knives too

yes, I really like it! Even gets "wet" stuff. Really light and easy to use and "empty". ( hahaha! Knives! ha!)

Sounds like I need a Dyson.

My vaccum got eaten by the dog so I can't speak much of it, as for the small animals post where the birds dissipearing? I was vaccuming with the hose near Jean jean's cage once 2 years ago, I was kneeling down, he got to the edge of his cage to investigate like he usually did. (NOTE the cage was 2 feet above where I was vaccuuming on the floor) Well I looked away thinking because every time else I've vaccuumed it's frightened him, I hear a THUNK and a loud whine and I look down and he's jumped into the end of the vaccuum hose or got sucked in I'm not sure which but I pinched the hose and turned the vaccuum off and got him out easily with a new hair do. Didn't seem much like it phased him and I was freaking out of course he just turned around and bit at the hose like he was teaching it a lession! >_< Thank GOD for low power vaccuums.
