I remember when reading The Parrot who Owns Me, the description of her amazon's reaction to a hawk. It seems pretty universal.
Even the smaller birds of prey are afraid of the larger ones. Many years ago, I had a little kestral. Someone brought over a magnificent golden eagle who had been shot down (not in the U.S., where it's illegal). The golden eagle was in the garden, and when my kestrel saw it, he was so terrified he fell off the perch, poor thing. |
