Default Travel Cages

I saw these travel cages (click on Check Out Our World Famous Travel Cage) and really like how they fold down into a briefcase type size, but...they don't have any macaw sized ones. Has anyone seen these anywhere, but bigger?

What kind and size travel cages do you use?

True story: As Ollie and I were heading home today (been visiting family over the weekend), I was watching her play in her travel cage (instead of watching the road...oops) and got to thinking about what I would do if I had a macaw. How in the heck do you get them in a travel cage with their long tails?? Not like a cage you can run them to the vet in, but a cage suitable for a mini vacation (2-3 days or so). I don't think I could even fit a "small" travel cage like that in my car!

I am interested to hear what you macaw owners use!

There tails do get in the way a lot, Jack must agree, her tail feathers are not the prettiest feathers form all her wear and tear on them. Her two longest tail feathers fell out within the past week, and she looks really funny without them (I'm glad there gone too, they were the raggady ones of the bunch)

Here's the transport/ travel cage I have. It is plenty long enough for a Macaw tail.

When we took Kady to Florida with us we wanted him to be comfortable and we knew we couldn't take his double macaw cage with us. So we bought him a 40x30. Then we rented a Rendevous to haul all his equipment.

I really like that travel cage! What kind is it (do you know a website?)
What are the dimensions?

Kady isn't the least bit spoiled...lol It may have been a pain getting all the stuff there but you had a great time with Kady in florida didn't you?

Karen that is a great transport cage and does not take up a lot of room for storage.

Thanx Karen! The sad part about the first travel cages you showed me, is that they were selling them as actual full time cages, if you look at the pictures lower in the ad, there are pictures with suns in one cage and it looks very sad and boring. I like the seond cages you showed me, I really like how they fold down like that

We use folding black metal dog crates that we've added perches to. The largest folds to only about 3" thick, and if we ever took a macaw or two with us on an overnight vacation, that's what we'd use. For getting them back and forth, we use a slightly smaller version that fits in the back of the Jeep easily. Plenty of room in there to take 2 macaws at a time just about anywhere--as long as they're not expected to spend a couple of days living in it.

Neither of these crates is easily possible to carry one-handed. They're too bulky (but the two of us can do it easily), For portability out of the crates, we use harnesses.
