| | Yea, I posted the Quaker ballad not long ago.
My heart breaks for this little Parrot, I hope folks can forgive me and understand my reasoning as I blame Mankind for the pain & suffering done unto these birds.
A lady down in Florida wrote me asking what could be done about the feral Quakers making a mess in her back yard while making there nests, apparently there were twigs and sticks everywhere.
I wrote back to her begging her not to call the authorities, I begged her to please be patient with these little birds as they trully mean no harm.
I explaned that Mankind will poison these birds as a means of control.
She wrote back and thanked me for my concern, she assured me she had no intentions of allowing anyone to harm these little birds.
On one hand, I admire this song about the Quaker, on the other I feel this song degrades this little gem of a Parrot.
I became involved with the group of folks standing up to stop the slaughter of these birds by the power companies, it was brought to my attention that poles were being constructed to lure the Quaker to build there nests there instead of the power lines, it cost $100.00 per pole to construct, I sent in enough to build a pole.
I started threads on different forums (the Quaker needs our help) and begged others to become involved.
Mankind has created this issue, these Quakers and all othe Parrots were put where they are for a reason, just as you and I were put here in the USA to live our lives, humans have no RIGHTS to take these wonderful little animals out of there natuaral habitat and relocate them either here and ANYWHERE.
Mankind can take a vacation and go see these wonders in there natural habitat.
Mankind can buy a picture of a Parrot and hang it on the wall.
The song says a crate fell and broke and all these Quakers escaped and began the invasion of the USA, well I am sorry, Mankind created this mess, Man continues to turn these little parrots loose into the wild when no longer wanted, the same with Keets and Tiels.
Rescue facilities fill up with mankinds throw aways, Animal shelters (killing machines) continue to run night and day.
All because Man and His/Her desire to keep animals as PETS.
& the animals, well the animals continue to pay the ultimate price, they pay with there lives.
My hat is off to the wonderful people that open there hearts and homes to these animals, please don't mis-understand my words, I have the upmost respect for all that you folks due for animals.
I have never been the type of person to point out a problem then walk away, I always try my best to find a solution, well there is no ending Mankind keeping animals as pets, so I have to think of other ways, one is to end the poisoning and destruction of the animals mankind has brought into our country, we need to end the killings, we brought them here, now we must learn how to deal with them...KILLING ISN"T AN OPTION OF OURS.
The other is...stricter laws imposed unto pet ownership, there lives do have meaning, it is up to us to stand up to those that abuse animals, and abuse is ALLOWING YOUR PET TO ROAM FREELY.
These issues began on a CIVIL level, these issues need to be addressed on a CIVIL level, stand up to your neighbor that allows there cat or dog to roam freely, Call the authorities if this is what it takes, catch the animal and call the authorities to come and get the animal, Put behind you the idea the animal may be destroyed, Know in your heart that by allowing the PET to roam freely is taking more lives than you can imagin.
United we stand, devided we fall, Stand up, be heard, turning and walking away is only fuel for the Killing Machines.
Stand up to Poisonings, Stand up and shut down Pest control companies that lie about animals and what they can do to your health to keep the killings happening for the DOLLAR, send e-mails to these companies asking them to send you Proof of one human dieing from what they claim, ask them for proof of what there ads claim.
Pigeons have been poisoned for many many years now, Now we can ad the Quaker.
There are answers, there are safe humane ways, ask yourself, "am I willing to commit to making a difference?"
If you own a Quaker, Please, Please, go and ask your little friend to be with you for awhile, look into those precious little eyes, talk with your little friend, ask him/her what you should do?
I thank you for tolerating my words.
