Default Stella & Izzy: Strange Bedfellows or Old Married Couple?

Stella (my 'zon) and Izzy (my U2) were my first two parrots and have always been very good friends. In the past couple of years, I have allowed them to spend more and more time together during the day to keep each other company. They are an odd couple, that is for sure, with Stella's spicey green self and Izzy all sugar and everything sweet. But somehow, it has worked. They hang out together in a cage, on playstands, on boings, in the shower -- just about anywhere I put them.

Well, over time, they have become like an old married couple and this short video will show you what I mean. In this, Izzy (like the typical neurotic wife fussing to make herself pretty) is busy preening herself into cockatoo perfection while Stella (like the old, crotchety husband) sleeps utterly oblivious to all of the fuss. I know there is not a lot of action in this video, but there is such a sweetness to their relationship, I just had to share. Who would ever think a U2 and YNA would be the best of pals??? Enjoy!

Maybe Izzy has a surpeise for Stella later on tonight, after everyones gone to bed, and waited for her to fall asleep so he could prepare himself.

Thats how I'd like to think of growing old together.....LOL

That's so sweet especially Stella just sleeping away LOL. I'm sure they have a very special bond being your first two. Alot of time spent talking about you!

Actually all my rescue friends are always laughing at the oddball pairings that their birds come up with on their own. They even reject perfectly good mates of their own species and choose an incompatible mate and that's just the way they want it. The rescuers assume that the birds lived in such an arrangement for so long (or alone) that they don't even care about the lack of being able to breed (for most of the year). Lately they've had an influx and they've been talking about having a sorta "dating service" between their two/three facilities to see if anybody has a love connection. Very sweet.

Thanks for showing us the video.
