The only thing that matters is what you are doing. I'd hate to see you waste your energy on this emotional roller coaster. No one can control anything outside of their own self & even there it can be hard. I beg you to let the other stuff wash off your back like a duck - be like a duck - think like a duck! I like what Jac said! How are you today??? give Peggy a hug!

As Jac said, we can't control what is all around us, but you are doing a huge part as you provide a home for these sweet birds and hopefully you can gain the necessary energy from that great accomplishment.

He came to me with no feathers on his head and looks like someone hit him on beak and cracked it . If i had known then what i know now I wouldnt have taken him on, convinced hes come from a profit making parrot breeding place of which we need to boycott but what happens to these poor birds from that sort of place? I dont regret Billy and would certainly never part with him its nice to see him developing even if it is very slowly. Good luck with your rescued birdies.
I am so slack, didn't follow up on this post. As it has been brought back upto the top, well I just noticed it again.

The quote. I wanted to say, many a time I have thought I would not have taken this bird had I of known. I shouldn't do this because it only encourages more to keep taking Sulpha's out of the wild and spreading the disease. What to do???
Well on the other hand had I not have taken them, they would be long dead and is it really their fault. Billysprout, you did the right thing. Never think you didn't.

This thread was my anger really. Every now and again I get frustrated and annoyed and I voice it.
There is a thread on this forum that gives us all hope and inspiration to keep doing what we do.
BEFORE & AFTER: Eagle Gets Artificial Beak

We are small and care for the little ones. Our work is appreciated by our birds. If not for us their fate????

I missed this post. I did not realize that all of your charges are PBFD. Bless your heart!

Hey, I haven't responded to this post in ages. How were you to know. It was my anger. When you see people's attitude in Australia, let alone overseas to PBFD.

It is like...wahhhhh, what do you think you are doing?? with overseas.
In Australia...big deal, so what, it's a Sulpha Crested, shoot the thing.

Two different attitudes, two different scenarios.
There are few in Australia that would bother about a Sulpha Crested Cockatoo, much less one with PBFD.
Different Scenario...imagine a Pidgeon in America with a disease. Sulpha Crested Cockatoo's are considered the same nucience in Australia.

Interesting that you pointed out the article about the artificial beak - I had asked if there wasn't something that could be done for your bird's lower beak - maybe a built up part? - like a permanent denture.

I glad you don't spend every day mad.

Yes you're right - around here very few would help a sick pigeon.
