Default Shopping! $$$

We went shopping yesterday to get groceries/supplies for us and the birds. I separated things, so human stuff rang up first $130 then Fid stuff $140. Total $270.00!

It wasn't all fresh food. I did stock up on a lot of nuts. I found unsalted shelled Macadamia Nuts so I was happy

What do spend weekly or bi-weekly on bird food items?

For the Grey's, I go twice a month and spend about $45 each time. That's just for the bulk food. I get a mixture since my pet store has it in bulk. Fruit, nuts, pelits, seed...then mix it together. I end up getting around eight lbs. total. I probably spend another $30 for baking stuff and another $30 for toys. So what that comes to is $150 a month unless I buy toys as well. I probably spend another $80 on the two Budgies and Finch. (not including toys) Well gee, let's just say I spend between $200-250 on the fids.

I don't buy in $.

Parrot cooking mix - Cooked mix containing:
Broken sugar beans, broken peas (rondo, maple, green, yellow), split peas (green and yellow), coarse maize grit, wheat, oats, sweet sorghum, lentils and mung beans (china peas). 12Kg converts maybe 25lb?

Aviary rusk 5kg
millet 3-4 kg
sunflower 5-8kg depends on the season
peanuts 1kg
vitimin, calcium, minerals, spirulina lasts a long time containers 250g concentrate.
other nuts, pumpkin seeds etc 500g
pellets maybe 5kg
4 -6 fruits and or veg a day (I only buy in season things)
Handraise formula.

Toys or the items to make - a lot. I mostly buy wood, ropes etc and make I can't afford to many toys for the number of birds, although only the aviary budgies and IRN play, the suns do not. All the pets however are master toy destroyers.

It costs over the price of a baby sun conure each month, maybe 1 1/2 babies.

Well, Ruby girl is rather spoiled. I may be looking threadbare but not Ruby! Basically, every extra dime goes to her and she eats alot better than I do!

We spend $400/month roughly for food for the birdies. Toys are slightly less because I recycle some of them.

For us poor humans it probably runs somewhere around $80/week for food and forget the toys.

I'm afraid to look at my bill....

Dry food - nuts/pellets/seed/etc runs about $500-600 every five/six weeks.

Fresh fruits/veggies etc runs about $100 plus a week.

Like most...the Fids eat better than we do.
