Do you find yourself having actual conversations with the birds? I sure know I do. Today I asked the birds. "who's ready for lunch bowls?" They all start screeching and stretching their wings. I go in with bowls and Alex always asks "What is that? or Whats that?" So I explain " Its rice, beans, barley, mixed greens and peppers!" Buddy says "whut?" So I say, "Its rice and beans Buddy" then he starts making this noise like he's tasting something. So I cant get the bowls in fast enough and Afa starts bobbing and shouting 'AFA BIRRRRRRD!" SO I say "ok Afa honey, mommy is coming" Then Buddy says "cmonnnnnn cmonnnnnn!" So I say "ok ok Mr Buddy Im coming!"

The more I write, the more I realize, Im the one who has been trained!

Heck yeah, I have conversations with Jerry all day! Any time he asks what I'm doing I explain what I'm doing. Or if he asks the kitties what they're doing, I tell him. He often asks where his favorite kitty is when he's out of his cage and I explain that she's taking a nap in the bedroom. Any time he says he's a good boy (which is like all day every day ) I say, "Of course you're a good boy, you're so sweet!" Or when he just says, "Oh hey Jare!" I answer and say, "What's up Jare, whatcha doin'?" We go on and on and on and an outsider would certainly think I'm looney!

Well my recent conversations have been very calm and sound like this: Ryan, you are really pissing me off. That is very bad behavior. I know I need a new lamp shade, but the fact that you ate half of it, will not get me to buy a new one any sooner. You have your toys and I have mine. And while we're on this subject, my computer is off limits to you. If you eat one more key, you will be eating it for a week.

No lie, he just sits there and listens to me without a peep, moving his head from side to side trying to understand me. And by the time I'm done, I'm laughing.

Are you kidding me! They have out right laughed at me! And last night, John made some crack while we were putting the birds to bed. Alex was on my shoulder right next to my ear and he let out this laugh that almost floored me. It was such appropriate laughter too, like he knew to laugh! They know way more than they get credit for.

Oh I completely agree. I know for a fact Ryan knows much more than I give him credit for. I don't think anything gets passed him. Unless he's eating of course.
