Question Question on behavior

Mornin all. I have a couple of questions I am hoping you all can help me with. Zakiyas morning dropping was pumpkin orange this am. I can't for the life of me think what she ate that would be orange yesterday. She had a chicken leg, alot of her pellets, and fruit and veggies yesterday. Then I took her into the bathroom with me to get ready for work, she sat on top of the mirror, chewed a q-tip and did another dropping that was more normal. Then she lifted her foot and dozed off on the mirror! Is that normal? I would think she would be awake and curious in a new room. Am I being too parannoid? How much napping do 4 month old babies do?

On a different note. She seems to be settling in quite nicely. Kids have friends over and she lets them hold her and play with toys. More fireworks again last night, and no panicing! She eats like a soldier as well!

Maybe I'm just paranoid about her dropping and napping with her foot up. Any help and info is greatly appreciated! Thanks all!

Scarlett naps like that all the time with one foot up. Danny does it sometimes too. And when I stay home with them in the day they do sleep quite a bit. I think you lucked out and got a calm little girl. She obviously feels safe with you if she will nap in a new room. I don't know about the poop though. Scarlett often has red poop, I always assumed it was because if her pellets.

Depending on the color of her pellets and the color of the food she was eating it will change the color of their poop. As far as napping, content healthy birds sleep on one foot. At four months she is still a baby, baby, and she will need more sleep than what you may think.

Is she eating colored pellets? Any dried papaya? That will do it. When my guys get dried papaya, they all poop orange.

Also, remember she is still a baby. 4 months old is not that old. Babies do require more sleep than "older" birds.

I think it's pretty normal. I am, however, concerned about Echo. She hasn't talked in several days nor made a sound. I'm getting very concerned. So, I sent mom off to buy seed (let's hope she get's the right one, lol) so hopefully that will help. I have been feeding pellets as well, and I think that's why.

If her pellets were colored, this could be the reason. It could also be from her fruits and veggies. Did you check with the kids to make sure she didn't get fed anything?

Dominique, I think you should start a new post with your concerns with Echo, either in the African Grey forum or the emergencies forum. Not that I think its necessarily an emergency, but there it will get attention, and several days of unusual behavior sounds like cause for concern to me. I don't have the experience to say, but it could be more than just a diet change.

Hi all, Thanks for the replys. When I came home today her droppings were back to normal. I think it must've been her pellets. They are fruity colored things. She is so sweet, I get a cavity just holding her! LOL

Dominique, how is Echo doing tonight?

If this helps I agree with everything everyone has said. Pellets can turn poop colors and be happy she is so calm to nap like that. She must feel very secure and that is thanks to her great MOM

Oh yeah, for sure. Fruity pellets = techni-color poop! Glad everything's ok!
