Default Pickles first birdie bread!

YaY I'm so excited I just made my first batch of birdie bread. I let it cool then gave some to Pickles. She LOVES it! She chowed right down!! I was so worried I'd be let down because she didn't like it.

So can I freeze the extra bread and just defrost it in the microwave whenever I want to give her some? Do you guys usually give birdie bread for breakfast along with other fruits and veggies?

Pickles is surely a sweet looking little gal, glad to hear she liked it. She sounds like she has fitted right into your home, made it her own!

Cute pictures! Yep, I freeze it in single servings, then just take out whatever I need for a day and put it in the fridge the night before. I have defrosted it in the microwave - you just have to be careful - if you put it in the microwave for too long - it turns hard as a rock!

Aww, she looks so cute and happy! Yep, I put mine in the freezer and then defrost it in the microwave, usually like 30-45 seconds depending on how big of piece you have. Prinny gets it more often the our other birds because it is the only way she will eat veggies. But they usually get it about 2-3 times a week.

How long will it stay good if kept in the freezer?

Do ya wanna share your recipe? I use the Jiffy cornbread mix as a base and add all kinds of veggies to it plus a little pellet mix. I dont get many complaints!! For some reason Mr Buddy gets really excited over it. He knows the pan it gets baked in. He sits on his perch watching me make it and screams "WHEEEEEW!" I usually smear a little bit of Red Palm Oil on top while its warm, they love it!!

I use Jiffy cornbread mix too. It's so easy!

One 8 1/2 oz. Box Corn Bread Mix
2 eggs and shells
Whole grain cereal
shredded carrots
peanut butter
Water (enough to make a cake-like consistency)

Pickles just loved it! It make a big batch so I'm going to freeze it tonight.

hmmm..I never thought of peanut butter! I do add other nuts though, and flax seed on top, looks like sprinkles!! Mine is similar to yours but I add corn, peas, shredded carrots, red pepper flake, a little oregano and basil. Sometimes I switch it up with dried fruits and raisins instead of veggies. It really is super easy to make and fun to watch them eat. I love to see them excited over food! I have some frozen summer squash so I think I might add that this time.

Those are great ideas! I'm going to add some of your suggestions next time I make it! Thanks!
