I agree, Mike. I always thought amazons lived longer on average than 50 years. And I disagree that Macaws have the same speaking ability as a yellow naped amazon. I know that Cooper's speech is no where near the same as my 'zon's. And I also disagree that an ekkie is "loud" based on my experience with Charley. He can be loud but nothing like a 'zon, macaw or cockatoo!! Interesting chart though!

I always wonder on these kind of things if there is a difference between "loud" and "noisy" For instance, Sophy can be very loud when she lets loose. But its rare she does.

It's really hard to rate a species on their loudness or cuddliness. We all know that it varies between each bird. My African ringneck isn't loud at all, and while Billy is loud, he's not noisy. I also would not have given Amazons a 'good' rating on cuddliness. A 'fair' rating is more realistic if we're talking about in general.

I think it is really difficult to make judgments as to qualities such as "cuddliness" or "noisiness" not only because as Amanda pointed out, there can be so much variation from bird to bird, but also because these measurements are so subjective in nature. I don't have a problem as long as whoever is putting the information out makes it clear that these are generalizations, and shouldn't be taken as gospel.

Yeah really.... I don't think I agree with ANY of the macaw part, especially the military assessment and lengths:

Interesting. I don't think I would go by this particular chart when picking out a new bird though. Honestly. It's nice that someone took the time to write all of this down, but really I think more their own personal views and experiences with these particular birds.

We used to have a quaker and he was so quite and a super snuggle bug. My sister had his brother, (his evil twin) and he would just as soon kill you as look at you and he was ear shattering LOUD! So there are no absolutes.

Those of you who have male ekkies - how cuddly are they?

So how about we come up with our own version (with some different parameters so as not to infringe their copyright claim)? I'm thinking a series of polls??
