Default Oh Dear!

Oh dear... What do I do?! My friend near me with 2 tiels is having to give them up. She says that she's too busy to take care of them the way they need it & is goin to be giving them up.

She has offered them both to me along w/ all cages & supplies for free. I can't really take them - Dad put the moratorium on any new birds until we move a while ago. Unless I can persuade him to change his mind I won't be able to take these 2 cockatiels named Dipstick & Pepper. I need to make up my mind within the day.

Yikes! Sticky situation Leah! I would try to persuade you dad. Maybe you could give them a temporary home until a more suitable one is found?

Better have you with the knowledge than someone without.
Yes, if you could foster them till the right family is found that would be wonderful.

Leah, I'm hoping your Dad will let you foster them so you can see they're taken care of and find a good home for them.

Think positive Leah, use the word Foster to dad, lets pray he allows you to watch over the 2 little ones until a reliable person is found.
Good luck sweetheart!

Thanks guys. Dad is so busy that to try asking anything is not good, because he's not wanting to listen. I would like to foster them as well.
The male (Dippy) is a cuddler extrodinaire (sp!). Pepper - the female - doesn't like anything.
I will try asking Dad this evening, but I really don't think he'll relent. I am praying he will though.

Hopefully Kayla will still have the birds too. Her mom said it was kind of 1st come, 1st serve.

Also, my mom is going out of town in less than a week, leaving me in charge of taking care of & feeding my brothers & Dad. (Fun that.)

Do you have a neighbor or friend that might foster them for you and you could visit and take care of them? Good luck with this!

I wish! The only friend close by with birds is the same girl who's having to get rid of them.

I went thru this last year - was offered a few really excellent birds. I really thought about it but in the end I had to walk away. Even with small birds they do deserve space & time. Adding more to your environment isn't always the best plan.

I'm surprised your 'friend' has put such a time limit on them. Offer to help her find a good home. She could contact local bird clubs or post at the local pet stores that only sell supplies.

I see way too many birds available on the Kijiji & Craig's lists. It seems these days they are virtually giving away birds.

When you commit to an animal you really should think it thru + add on any eventually, like moving. YOur Dad probably is prepared to support your investment in Winkie but can you ask him to support more?
