Default O.K. No one had better laugh

I just want to get opinions on Gems house.

Yes, I am an artist....but only

graphic/photographic.

Please don't laugh....

It is only a rough (very rough) draft.

I like it! For a 'rough draft', I think it looks really nice (a lot better than mine would)

You are very welcome! If you don't mind my asking, what kind of bird is Gem? She/He is either a pigeon or dove, I'm guessing, but what species?

Looks very good Susan, can I ask where is it going to go? Inside, outside or on a patio?
Gem is beautiful btw. How old is she now?

LOL because my son is a graphic artist and everyone in his Fine Arts drawing classes laughed at him too. The prof said, "Dont worry Pete, just draw stick men but make sure the arms match"."

I dont know about pigeons but I had some white doves for awhile living with me so they're probably the same?

They loved the bottom and walking around the room pecking all the time.

If I'm not mistaken she's going to want to be pecking the floor eating? But the pigeon people can tell you better than I can.

I'd go as WIDE as possible. Can you go about 6 ft wide? Side to side? Unless it's just for sleeping.

And if she's going to be in it alot during the day maybe you could rig up some kind of removable roof for sunlight?

Like some rabbit hutches have an extension of caging with no roof so they can go in and out of the sun. Attached to the house part.

1. Dove
2. On the patio
3. Yes, pigeons like to peck
4. I can go 6'
5. Not too much sunlight...he will get enough from the front being mostly mesh.

This is why I posted this...to get ideas before I actually build it.
Thanks for the input.
I think I will make it a little bigger.
Gem won't be in it 24/7...mostly daytime.

I like the design, but I would go as big as possible. My knowledge of pigeons comes only from the 2 that I have, but I can't imagine having Mollie and Mira in a smaller cage. It is about 10 feet by 10 feet and probably 3.5-4 feet tall, of course it's divided down the middle now. I'm hoping that they'll be able to live in peace eventually so I can take the divider down and let them share the whole condo.

All the sides are wire mesh, as well as 2/3 of the bottom. 1/3 of it is wood panels. The wood panels is where I keep their big water dishes and food. They eat their food out of kitty litter boxes, big ones so they can get in and forage around.

Are you going to be able to free fly Gem outside? Or inside?

Oh I sure do plan to free fly him. (both in and out)
Great idea with the litter box. I know they like to peck for their food.
I'll take everyones advice and make it 8-10 ft.
