My baby parrotlets are weaned I've 2 baby parrotlets that my pair hatched (small clutch). They are weaned. They no longer want mom to give them their food. They refused their feeding last night, so we'll go without tonight to see how they do. They've each only lost about a half gram during the weaning process.
My little girl, Scamp, if she does well over the next few nights, will be going to her new home this weekend. My friend who is taking her is a very experienced bird owner, so if she regresses will be able to give her some handfeedings, but I don't think she'll need it. She is ready to go, eating wonderfully on her own (to the point of kicking Stringbean out of the food cups--she doesn't share well). My friend has handfed birds many times and worked with vets when they needed help with sick parrots and wildlife. I'm confident she'll be able to handle my 2.5 inch ball of feathers.
They are eating their staple diet, fresh foods wonderfully. They're eating spray millet and anything else you introduce on the first introduction. |
