Default Mommy pride

Can I just share with you guys how proud I am of my brave girl? When I brought Humphrey home, she was so terrified she hid behind a toy for 2 days.

Now, she is my brave, curious girl. When I give her a new toy, IMMEDIATELY she goes over to investigate it, looking like she's saying, "What's this?! Is it for me?!"

I have been trying to enrich her environment lately with some foraging activities. (for example, some easy foraging toys, and I also put loads of big beads and stuff in one of her playstand treat dishes - which she happily chucked on the floor, one by one!)

Today I used an idea about covering one of her dishes with paper (not her main dish, just a dish on the playstand that 'occasionally' contains a treat or 2 to find while foraging). I left about an inch showing, so on the first occasion she could tell there are treats inside.

There is a big climbing arch near the bowl, and she climbed down, investigated, then ran back up. Then she ran back down, snatched a seed, then ran back up. Repeat, again and again. She was nervous of this new thing, but brave enough (and greedy enough) to keep going back again and again. I was laughing so hard. I am so proud of her! She is my brave girl.

Michele, what a wonderful story. It is so heart warming to see these little ones come to life and thrive when they are in a loving secure environment. It makes all the hard work worthwhile. It certainly sounds like Humphrey is really enjoying your foraging ideas!!

Ah that's so sweet. I can almost see her running up & down. Hope she gets calmer over time. The plate can't fall over can it? wouldn't want that to back-fire.
