Default Molting

Well whether it be the wrong season or not..both birds have dropped a TON of feathers over the past week. At least it appears as if we're past the hormones though! Everyone is in a much better mood, no tail pulling, etc. and we made it through egg free!

What if anything do you do to help them through a molt? Do you give any supplements or add to their diet in any way?

I feel for you Karen.
Both budgies are molting.
I put all the birds in their cages this afternoon so I could put the ceiling fans on. What a mistake...blue feathers everywhere!
I have been letting them nibble on fresh aloe. Hopefully it will help.

Yes, I also add aloe detox to their water, give them a 1/4 hard boiled egg twice/week and add a little extra calcium to the BIRDIEBREAD this time of year. My boy tiels and Shrek have been molting the last two weeks....

I spray Ruby with warm water that I add aloe vera juice to. Lots and lots of scritches too!

Oh I thought it was just me! Ryan had such a bad day, he was scratching, pulling on feathers and was totally uncomfortable and irritated. I gave him 3 warm showers throughout the day and finally he's back to normal.

Warm showers for poor Bella. The lil'gal is soo itchy and asks for tons of scritches. She gets misted on the days that I work. Thank goodness the nights have been warm!

My guys are all molting in our house too.

Feather-In is really helping the itching.
