We adopted Merlin (CAG) just about 3 months ago and things seem to moving along as expected. He never comes off his cage unless he's been spooked by something. UNTIL LAST NIGHT!!! My son and I were playing chess on the living room floor and seeing how I was getting beaten so badly Merlin must've decided he was going to come down and see if he could offer some advise. Naturally once he made it to the floor we all stoped what we were doing and all eyes were on him. He made his rounds getting into as much trouble as his little beak could find, leaving a trail of poopie piles and when he was done he let me know it's time to go back by offering his foot for a step up. BTW, he NEVER steps up.
This afternoon he decided he wanted to take another look around and flew across the living room and into my bedroom. When he landed he said "shhhh, its okay" and waddled back to his cage. I think we have started something, not sure if it's a good thing or not.

Boca does the same thing. He comes looking for me. Baby usualy tattles on him though.

What a nice story, Sally. I truly believe all birds have potential. Us humans just have to have patience. Kudos to you for adopting this little one and giving him the time he needs to trust you!
