Unhappy Lucy's Feathers

Lucy's going through a molt and losing a bunch of old feathers. Unfortunatly, I've noticed that she's been biting off the tips (not barbing, but just the tops) of her chest feathers. I have no idea what to do because I thought we were past this. I know molting is hard, but is there anything I can do? Right now, she gets baths at least everyother day, fresh fruits, some seed, dried fruits and veggies (sulpher free) no peanuts and plenty of out time.

Dom, do you have any preening type toys for her? I make a simple toy that Kady loves to preen. I put sisal inside straws. This toy has really helped him with not barbering feathers.

In addition to preening toys I use a product called feather in by avitec. FI is an oatmeal spray that helps with itching of dry skin. I have a couple of feather pickers & excessive preeners but I use it on everyone.

Jeanne,

Have you noticed good feather growth on your pluckers from this product? DO you only use it when they're molting?

When they are molting, chewing or plucking I spray them twice a day. Once their feathers improve I spray them with it every other week but give them daily baths with water. I've had great success with one of my greys. I have two huge containers full of it, if you'd like I can send you some so you can try it out before you buy it. I also have a friend that has her whole sales lis and is ordering the FI wholesale. I'll find out from her what's she selling it for.
