Default lighting

i bought this type of light because we have a aquarim lid that is no longer in use. so i decided to use it for the birds light. this is the bulb i bought. it is a exo terra repita-glo 2.0 daylight terrarium lamp. full spectrum uva 25%,uvb 2%,
cri 98 and 6700 color temp.

I don't know the stats on f/s lighting, but I do believe that reptile f/s lighting is not good for birds.

We had a light for a snake that I was told not to use on the birds, I can't tell you why but that is what a science teacher told me.

I've read that also, not to use reptile lights for birds.

it is a flouresent full spectrum light. light not one of those basking lights. i called zoo med about their avian sun is equal to the 5.0 repti-sun. i just have to get the 5.0 instead of the 2.0 not enough uvb in the 2.0 it only has 2% instead of the 5% in the 5.0.

Yeah, I think the color temperature figure of 6700k is way high as well. 5000k is what is recommended, if I remember correctly.

That sounds about right to me Nate. I'm no expert, but the topic of proper f.s. lighting has been a hot one lately. 5000k seems to stick out in my mind.
