Not meaning to be corny. Not meaning to be mushy. Not meaning to publicly admit that I have a favorite, but I just did.
Rico and I have this fantastic bond. He knows me well and reads my body language and tone of voice very well, as I do his.
I like to post little diddies about all of my birds so I hope you don't mind me starting this thread. I would also welcome everyone to feel free to post little diddies about your little diddlies here too.
Here's one of the many reasons I love Rico so much.
I wasn't supposed to work today but I did anyway. It was a long day after a long night of celebrating a friend's birthday last night. I went in bright eyed and bushy tailed and came home simply wiped. Got all the birds out and put them in their playroom. Grabbed the golden child and headed outside for some QT with my homeboy. Fixed myself a cup of coffee and went to the backyard intending to sit at the patio table and instead ended up plopping myself down right in the middle of the grass instead. Rico sat on hand. I ended up leaning back and just laying down in the grass. I put Rico on my knee and expected him to go running for the toes but he turned and looked at me instead and opted for walking toward my face instead he sat on my chest near my neck looking into my eyes. I looked up at him and told him how much I missed him today. I ended up grabbing him around his body with both hands and raised him to my lips and gave his back a gargantuous kiss and sat him back on my chest. He stood there and shared my view of the backyard with me. I folded my arms behind my head we both stared up at the sky watching all the birds fly above. I do this often but for some reason I just really really enjoyed watching all the birds today. Rico sat contently on my chest watching the birds too. Soon my eyes started getting heavy and I shut them for a minute. I peeked one open to see what Rico was doing. He was sitting there and had decided to pull one foot up. He shook his head and fluffed up his feathers and shut his foot tighter. Rico naps with me often and knows what we're getting ready to do when I lay down. But this time I wasn't intending on napping. He knew I was before I did. I winked at him and told him once again how much I loved him. I decided to rest my eyes again. I did doze off for a while, not sure how long but wasn't too long. I opened my eyes again and saw him move his eyes toward me and I thanked him for napping with me. He jumped back onto my hand and I stood up and here we will sit for most of the evening together at the patio table.
My partner at the table.
My sidekick!
